Reading Summer 2025: Adventures, games and great prizes in Bad Dürkheim!

Things will soon get hot again in Bad Dürkheim for all little reading lovers! On Monday, June 23, 2025, the seventeenth Rhineland-Palatinate Reading Summer starts, an event that aims to motivate children and young people between the ages of 6 and 16 to read. Across the country, 226 municipal and church libraries are taking part, including the Bad Dürkheim city library.

The reading summer runs from June 23rd to August 24th, 2025 and falls right during the summer holidays. Every year the campaign offers an excellent opportunity to borrow exciting new books. Anyone who registers will receive an exclusive reading summer club card with which current children's and young adult books can be borrowed free of charge. Reading is not only fun, but also rewarding: participants who read and rate at least three books receive a certificate for their achievements, which many schools recognize in their next report card.

Participate and win

Registration takes place directly at the Bad Dürkheim city library. Participants fill out rating cards for each book read. With every card you fill out, you not only take part in a nationwide raffle, but you also have the chance to win many great prizes. The main prize is a voucher for a two-day stay for four people in Europapark Rust with the sensational Rulantica water world. The Bad Dürkheim city library is also giving away more than 30 prizes among its participants, and the winners will be invited to the big closing party on September 25, 2025.

A “Good to Know” information sheet in the city library provides all the important information about the reading summer. This year the opening will be carried out by Ms. Dorothée Rhiemeier in the Kirn city library, while the entire campaign is under the patronage of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Family, Women, Culture and Integration. The reading summer is not only a way to promote reading fun, but also an excellent program for everyone who wants to experience something during the summer holidays.
