Trift Stadium in Bad Dürkheim: 540,700 euros for the future of sport!

In the heart of Bad Dürkheim there will soon be a big sporting event! On Friday, June 20, 2025, an important funding notice for 540,700 euros was presented at the Trift Stadium to make the sports facility fit for the future. The Interior Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Michael Ebling, handed over the decision to Mayor Natalie Bauernschmitt. Everyone involved, from the administration to representatives from politics and sport, are enthusiastic about this big step towards modernizing the facility, which is of central importance, especially for local clubs and schools. According to Bad Dürkheim, the stadium is not only used regularly by five sports clubs, but also by primary and secondary schools for training, lessons and competitions.

The modernization measures are extensive and include the renewal of the running track, the installation of a new artificial turf field and the renovation of the synthetic surface area. A modern fitness area, a new course and a basketball facility are also planned. This makes the stadium a truly multi-functional venue that also plays an important role as a state base for the Rhineland-Palatinate/Saar Hockey Association. Interior Minister Ebling could only underline the importance of this initiative when handing over the symbolic baton with the inscription “Future Stadium”: “Modernized sports facilities create better conditions for clubs, schools and recreational sports,” he noted.

Diverse usage options

The planned measures at the Trift Stadium are not only crucial for sports clubs. Institutions such as Lebenshilfe, the DRK and the Rotaract Club also use the facility for various sporting and social activities. Head of Social Affairs Angela Strobel emphasizes that the stadium should become a place of encounter, exercise and participation for all generations. “It’s about bringing young and old together,” says Strobel.

The project is part of the politics of Rhineland-Palatinate, which launched the initiative “Rhineland-Palatinate – Movement Country #1”. This is intended to strengthen sport in its diversity and is supported by the state government, which is making a total of around 16.7 million euros available for 2025 to support municipal and club-owned sports facilities. Wochenblatt Reporter reports that the funding comes from sports facility funding, which aims to improve the sports infrastructure and make it more attractive.

In this sense, the Trift Stadium is not just a sports facility, but a meeting place for the community - a place that promotes togetherness and offers space for development. The conversion and renovation work will not only boost sporting activities, but also contribute to social cohesion in Bad Dürkheim.
