Idar-Oberstein will soon be transformed into a festive zone full of magic and music! On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the pedestrian zone invites you to the “Citymood & Friends” closing party from 2 p.m. As Antenne KH reports, the day will not only be filled with magic by Jakob Mathias and a hands-on show from the Decibel music school for children, but the band “Happy Tones” will also ensure a good atmosphere. Cheerleaders from the Idar gymnastics club and numerous bouncy castles and play stations provide additional fun for the little ones.
The festival marks the end of a three-year project that was part of the “Sustainable City Centers and Centers” funding program. The city has done a lot to revitalize the city center through measures such as floral decorations, cleaning campaigns and pop-up stores and can now look back on a positive balance. “It’s nice to see how the events are well received,” said a city representative. In the second tender in April 2022, a total of 97 municipalities were selected, including Idar-Oberstein, which can look forward to a spatial budget of up to 300,000 euros. Sustainable urban development Hessen emphasizes that the aim of this program is to support novel retail concepts and social places that adapt entirely to the needs of the residents.
