Colorful finale in Idar: magic, music and home shopping on September 13th!
Idar-Oberstein will soon be transformed into a festive zone full of magic and music! On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the pedestrian zone invites you to the “Citymood & Friends” closing party from 2 p.m. As Antenne KH reports, the day will not only be filled with magic by Jakob Mathias and a hands-on show from the Decibel music school for children, but the band “Happy Tones” will also ensure a good atmosphere. Cheerleaders from the Idar gymnastics club and numerous bouncy castles and play stations provide additional fun for the little ones.
The festival marks the end of a three-year project that was part of the “Sustainable City Centers and Centers” funding program. The city has done a lot to revitalize the city center through measures such as floral decorations, cleaning campaigns and pop-up stores and can now look back on a positive balance. “It’s nice to see how the events are well received,” said a city representative. The successful networking of actors should be continued in the future in order to keep the district vibrant.
Home shopping for Idar-Oberstein
But that's not all! At the same time as this colorful final celebration, the big “Shop Home” campaign will take place on September 12th and 13th, 2025. As part of this IHK campaign, Idar-Oberstein is officially declared a home shopping city, as idar-oberstein.de reports. The aim is to combine the importance of local retail and gastronomy and thus strengthen the sense of community.
The benefits of shopping locally are obvious: from supporting neighbors to creating jobs and reducing environmental impact through short distances. It is also emphasized that shopping locally increases the quality of life and creates awareness of one's own roots.
Projects for the future
The city also benefits from the nationwide “Future of the City Center” program, which promotes creative usage concepts for urban spaces. In the second tender in April 2022, a total of 97 municipalities were selected, including Idar-Oberstein, which can look forward to a spatial budget of up to 300,000 euros. Sustainable urban development Hessen emphasizes that the aim of this program is to support novel retail concepts and social places that adapt entirely to the needs of the residents.
In summary, Idar-Oberstein will offer an opportunity to actively shape the city and celebrate the local community with a festival and the “Shop Home” campaign on September 13, 2025. It turns out that this is not just a celebration, but a step towards a more prosperous future for all residents!
