New hope: Dreesbach leads Stadtwerke Bad Kreuznach!

A fresh wind is blowing in the Bad Kreuznach municipal utilities. Klaus-Dieter Dreesbach was elected as the new managing director to temporarily lead the company's fortunes for a year. This decision was made at the last shareholders meeting and the city council will be informed of the news on Thursday. Dreesbach, who has been deputy managing director of Stadtwerke and Badgesellschaft Kreuznach (BGK) since 2008, is now taking on responsibility until an external successor solution can be found. He will therefore play a key role in leading the municipal utilities into a new era. Antenna KH reports that Dreesbach is also the head of the bathroom company, a position he has held since 2018.

While Dreesbach's takeover is now the focus, Christoph Nath is saying goodbye to Stadtwerke Bad Kreuznach after more than six years as managing director. Nath has announced his retirement at the end of September. The managing director, who also heads BGK, will be moving to the municipal utilities in Remscheid from October. This marks a clear new beginning for the municipal utilities, which will soon have to look for a new managing director. Locally based publisher Energie und Management has described the change as a significant step for the utilities in Bad Kreuznach. Energy and Management emphasizes that this withdrawal also indicates a new direction for the Bad Kreuznach public utility company.

Current developments at the municipal utilities

Despite the change in leadership, the municipal utilities appear to be in a stable position. The annual balance for 2024 is encouraging, especially in the areas of electricity and drinking water. Particularly noteworthy is the increase in profits in the electricity business from 7.2 to 7.4 million euros, which is not a given given the current energy prices. The gas sector remains under pressure while the drinking water supply remains stable. ZFK adds that the municipal utilities' loss-making pools are seen as a problem child, but there is optimism for the pool company. Managing director Dreesbach is confident that the Crucenia thermal baths and the bathhouse will be back in operation in September.

It should not go unmentioned that the pools' deficit was reduced to 4.2 million euros, which is 185,000 euros less than originally calculated. With such positive developments, the municipal utilities are well positioned to tackle the challenges of the future. The pools should remain an important part of the offer and help to increase the attractiveness of Bad Kreuznach. So the progress is rather encouraging, and it remains to be seen what changes the new leadership will bring.
