Burglaries remain a pressing problem

This incident comes in the context of a general increase in attempted break-ins in Germany. According to the Police crime statistics (PKS) A total of 78,436 burglaries and attempted burglaries were recorded in 2024. For comparison: In the previous year there were 77,819 cases. The increase shows that many criminals continue to try to break into homes and commercial properties, even though the clearance rate is only 15.3 percent.

What is particularly worrying is that in 2024 over 46 percent of these burglaries have already failed at the experimental stage. It's clear that preventive measures, such as proper security technology and more attentive neighbors, can be crucial to preventing break-ins.

Alarming statistics and citizen fears

At a time when break-ins and thefts are increasing, it is not only the police's job to inform the population, but also every individual to be vigilant and report dangerous situations. The attempted break-in in Rockenhausen could be a reminder for everyone to take the security of their own four walls seriously.
