Construction site in front of Becker's front: guests and sales suffer greatly!
In the picturesque Germersheim there are currently some challenges for the tenant couple Alisa and Michael, who have been running the clubhouse since March 2022 Palatinate Forest Association lease. A construction site that severely impairs access to the club premises ensures that the number of guests and thus also sales are significantly reduced. The access roads from An Fronte Beckers and Richthofenstraße are particularly affected, which puts both guests and operators in an awkward position.
The shortages are a real obstacle for the couple. As tenants, they naturally want there to be a lot of activity, which is why the effects of the construction site are noticeable. “It's not just a logistical problem, we're also losing customers who might have just passed by,” explains Alisa. Such difficulties can be very stressful for a small restaurant.
The clubhouse and its history
The Palatinate Forest Association Germersheim e.V. was founded in 1967 and now has around 150 members. The association, which is politically and religiously neutral, pursues charitable purposes and wants to bring people closer to their home landscape, both in terms of landscape, history and culture. Activities such as hikes are offered, with special consideration being given to families with children, seniors and less experienced hikers. There are also short hikes and special routes for “active seniors”.
These hikes take place every second Wednesday of the month and are a wonderful way for members to enjoy nature and socialize. Guests are also warmly welcome at the events, and a final retreat at the end is part of the program.
The challenges for the club
The ongoing construction work not only affects the tenant couple, but also the firmly anchored social cohesion in the club. Many guests who would otherwise take part in the activities avoid the restaurant due to poor accessibility. It's not just a question of sales, but also of the community that suffers under these circumstances.
"We rely on the support of our members and guests. Every hike not only offers an opportunity to enjoy nature, but also a sense of home," emphasize Alisa and Michael. Those responsible for the club hope that the construction site work will be completed soon to ensure smooth access to the clubhouse again.
Those interested can contact directly the club's website or contact board members by telephone. We can only hope that the beautiful Palatinate Forest and the associated activities can soon be enjoyed again without hindrances.
