Benefit concert in Kaiserslautern: Help children in need!

A wonderful opportunity to do good is approaching: The Lions Club Kaiserslautern Lutra invites you to a very special benefit concert on Sunday at 5 p.m. A musical festival will take place in the Emmerrich Smola Concert Hall of the Südwestrundfunk under the title “Martini Benefit Concert Goes Klassik, Swing & Pop” that will appeal to both classical lovers and fans of swing and pop. The president of the Lions Club, Tobias Wiebelt, took over the organization of this musical event after the intended president fell ill. rheinpfalz.de reports that the concert will be carried out in collaboration with the SWR Kaiserslautern, and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Police Orchestra under the direction of Florian Weber will provide the musical accompaniment.

The concert not only has a cultural but also an important social background. Admission is free, but the organizers ask for donations that will go to a very good cause. The proceeds go to the “Outpatient Children and Youth Hospice Service” in Kaiserslautern and are specifically earmarked for the “Wish Excursion” project, which organizes a summer festival at the Siegelbach Zoo for affected children and their families. Wiebelt, who works in real estate valuation, emphasizes the importance of getting involved with people in need - a motto that is close to the Lions Club's heart.

Commitment in the Cologne region

The Lions Club's social commitment does not end with this concert. In Cologne, too, the Lions are committed to the common good, especially in supporting the homeless and young people. An impressive example of this is the benefit concert that took place on March 30, 2023 in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. The Bundeswehr Big Band and special guest Laith Al-Deen performed here, presenting hits such as “Pictures of You”. The musicians waived their fee, and over 50,000 euros were raised, which went to the needy in Cologne. lions-koelnrhenus.de reports on this sold-out and successful event, at which Mayor Henriette Reker acted as patron.

The Lions Club follows the motto “WE SERVE” in its commitment, and events like these impressively show that art and charity can go hand in hand. Be it in Kaiserslautern or Cologne, the Lions Clubs do valuable work and invite everyone to become part of this initiative and help where help is urgently needed.
