Corpus Christi in Koblenz: floats, procession and parish festival await!

On June 24, 2025, a festive Corpus Christi service was celebrated with numerous participants in the Catholic parish community of Koblenz on the left side of the Moselle. The central component was an impressive celebratory service in the parish church of St. Konrad, led by Father Chigozie Odibo. He received support from the concelebrants Pastor Herbert Lucas, Pastor Erich Fuchs and Deacon Stefan Kranz. For this special occasion, numerous flag delegations from the clubs as well as the communion children were present and created a festive atmosphere.

The mass was musically accompanied by a project choir, conducted by Thomas Oster, who impressively expressed the central message of the Eucharist: the lasting presence of Jesus Christ. This Eucharistic celebration not only has a spiritual meaning, but also brings the community of believers together.

Procession and festivities

After the service, a colorful procession with a canopy and a monstrance took place that led through the pollen field settlement. The destination was the outside altar on Himmeroder Platz before the believers returned to the parish church of St. Konrad. Such processions are a central element of the feast of Corpus Christi and symbolize the veneration of the Eucharist, as emphasized in the teachings of Jesus. Jesus himself spoke of the living bread present in the Eucharist and explained that eating its flesh and drinking its blood brings eternal life. This deeper spiritual symbolism is particularly celebrated on Corpus Christi by making the sacrament visible in the community.

The day ended with a happy parish celebration on the church grounds. With sunny weather and protective structures, the celebrants were able to spend relaxing hours with culinary offerings and refreshing drinks. This clearly shows that Corpus Christi is not just a religious act, but also a festive occasion that strengthens togetherness and promotes cohesion in the community.

It's nice to see how such traditions are kept alive. The events not only strengthen faith, but also community in the parish community. The Corpus Christi celebrations show that being close to God and community is an important part of life. It remains to be hoped that this tradition will continue to attract many believers and interested people in the future.
