Active together: Free walking in Kusel for everyone!
Lebenshilfe Kusel is once again breaking new ground and inviting all interested citizens to an inclusive exercise program. As part of the “United in Motion – Active Together” program, a group walk through Kusel takes place on four Fridays in July from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The starting point is the Lebenshilfe residence, located at Lehnstrasse 25a. Participation is open to everyone, regardless of age, fitness level or impairments. A warm exchange and an opportunity for exercise are offered for everyone.
Timo Schneider, the full-time board member, has already announced that the goal of this initiative is not just movement, but also the creation of encounters and the breaking down of barriers. “We want to strengthen physical, mental and spiritual strength through exercise and social contacts,” says Schneider.
Movement for everyone!
Lebenshilfe Kusel sees itself as a self-help association that is particularly committed to people with disabilities, their families and friends. Its goal is to promote a self-determined life and to integrate those affected into all areas of life, as explained on the website of the Lebenshilfe Kreisvereinigung Kusel e.V. The variety of support offers ranges from support to individual solutions to sustainably improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.
For the citizens of Kusel, the exercise offering is a great opportunity to get active. No matter whether young or old, trained or untrained - everyone has the opportunity to take part here! The program is part of the initiatives of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Sports, which is aimed at a broad target group and promotes low-threshold exercise and sports offerings.
Broaden sporting perspectives
But movement is not only important in Kusel. The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) is also committed to promoting sports for people with disabilities. In addition to the Paralympic Games, which we all know, the DBS has created important structures so that people with intellectual disabilities can also take part in these sporting competitions. The DBS reports on various sports that were developed specifically for this target group. These include blind football, para badminton and wheelchair basketball, to name a few.
Overall, it can be seen that commitment to people with disabilities is constantly growing in various areas. It is time to take advantage of what we have to offer and to strengthen togetherness in our community through exercise and exchange. Participation in the walks is free of charge and does not require registration – just come along and join in!
