Lions Club honors unsung heroes: Citizens' Award for volunteer work

In a festive atmosphere, the Offenbach Lions Club awarded its popular Citizens' Prize for the third time on October 29, 2025. The award winners, Denise Wambsganß, Roselinde Kleinhenz and Claudia Fürst, were recognized for their extraordinary commitment to volunteer work. As president of the club, Marcel Barbey emphasized the importance of the award, which is called “Pro Palatia” and aims to recognize the achievements of people who selflessly work for others. These “Silent People in the Country” have enriched the lives of many people with their work and strengthened our sense of community.

In his speech, Barbey emphasized volunteer work as particularly valuable. In times when society is often characterized by hectic pace and stress, such initiatives are a ray of hope. “We are proud to honor people who do not demand spectacular praise for their actions, but simply do good,” he said. The award ceremony took place in a festive setting and was attended by numerous members of the Lions Club and numerous guests.

A symbolic symbol

The “Pro Palatia” award is more than just recognition. It is a symbolic symbol of the importance of volunteering in our society. The three award winners worked in different areas and thus showed how versatile and important voluntary work can be. Through their initiatives and communities, they have changed the lives of many people for the better and are real role models for others to follow.

It is gratifying to see that Lions Clubs across Germany are promoting such events and placing voluntary work at the forefront. This not only contributes to the appreciation of the individual, but also promotes a sense of community throughout society.

More interesting insights

On an exciting note, while the Lions were focused on local efforts with their accolades, in the sports world, the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated another victory. They defeated the Detroit Lions 30-17 on the field, improving their record to 3-3 on the season. Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs' quarterback, was in top form and caught some remarkable passes that led the team to victory. The Lions' limited defensive strength also provided additional support for the Chiefs, who are now on the rise. These sporting successes are also a sign of what can be achieved with team spirit and dedication, in the spirit of volunteerism, which the Lions represent excellently.

As the Lions Club's celebrations and the Chiefs' sporting achievements show, the key to success lies not only in individual achievements, but also in the strength of the community. Committed people and teams working together and supporting each other make a big difference in society and on the field.

One thing is certain: whether in volunteer work or in sport, a good hand and the will to succeed together are the way to achieve great things. For further information on the achievements of the award winners and the event, see the report from Rheinpfalz and Yahoo Sports.
