Summer concert series: Classic meets jazz in the Katharinenkapelle!
There will soon be a lot of music going on in the Katharinenkapelle in Landau! The summer concert series of the Katharinenkapelle support association starts on July 3, 2025, which will not only delight connoisseurs of classical music, but also let jazz lovers get their money's worth. Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. the historic chapel becomes the stage location for exciting concerts.
It starts with the duo consisting of the cellist Alexandra Netzold and the jazz pianist Oliver Taupp. Both musicians are not unknown and perform regularly on national and international stages. On the first concert evening, visitors can expect an exciting program with works by greats such as Enrique Granados, Peter Tchaikovsky, George Gershwin, Miles Davis and Chick Corea. Netzold describes the project as an artistic development that combines classical concert dances with jazz arrangements. “CeLLO Meets JAZZ” stands for the harmony and fusion of two musical worlds, which is sure to offer the audience an unforgettable experience.
Concert series with a varied program
The summer concert series offers a highlight not only on the opening day. Every Thursday features a different musical ensemble and different musical styles:
- 10. Juli: Die Frau mit dem Fagott – mit dem Ferrara Duo.
- 17. Juli: Das Feuer weitergeben mit Oak & Ash.
- 24. Juli: Der Hauch des Barocks – mit Sergey Sadovoy (Akkordeon).
- 31. Juli: Purzelbuchstaben – Lesung und Musik.
- 7. August: Sternenklang über dem Atlantik – mit Oliver Jaeger (spanische Gitarre).
- 14. August: Zum 340. Geburtstag von Johann Sebastian Bach – Suiten für Violoncello.
- 21. August: Der leisen Klänge Zauber – Barocke Lautenwerke.
- 19. September: Herkommen und Hingehen – A-cappella Chormusik.
Admission to the entire concert series is free, but donations are requested at the exit, which will be divided between the support association and the artists. A great way to enjoy music while supporting local culture!
