BASF TC Ludwigshafen: Reformation and great expectations in league two!
BASF TC Ludwigshafen is starting the new season of the second tennis Bundesliga optimistically. Team boss Denis Gremelmayr has announced that the talented Nicola Kuhn has confirmed his commitment to all matches despite the shoulder problems that have been plaguing him since mid-March. A final examination should clarify whether he is fully resilient again. In general, the conditions for the team have changed as Daniel Baumann and Vincent Schneider are no longer available.
The team has repositioned itself with a focus on South American players. Matias Soto from Chile, Joao Lucas Reis da Silva from Brazil and Juan Bautista Torres from Argentina are now part of the squad. Gremelmayr, who is in the lineup himself and would like to offer other players opportunities, has the goal of presenting attractive tennis for the spectators in Ludwigshafen.
Home game day at a glance
Last Friday, the BASF TC was able to impress on home soil in Ludwigshafen. Lennart Hampel and Liam Gavrielides each scored two points in the first individual round. Duje Ajdukovic also showed great talent when he got the upper hand in a thrilling match against Swede Jonathan Mridha after more than two hours and won in the match tie-break. In the second round, Mathias Bourgue, Nicola Kuhn and Alexander Erler stepped up and secured another three points, while the team completed the double round with a clear 9-0 win against QOOL TC Weiss-Blau Wolfsburg. The Ludwigshafen workshops, led by Corinna Weise, attended the match day and created a special atmosphere.
The next home game is also just around the corner and will take place on Sunday, July 23rd from 11:00 a.m. against TC Wolfsberg Pforzheim. Entry to this exciting experience is free for members, which should ensure a lot of popularity.
The challenges in tennis
Professional tennis is a sport that places the highest demands on its athletes. The demands on technique, endurance and speed are enormous. What's exciting here is that tennis stands out from many other sports due to its biomechanical properties. High-speed movements, overhead pleasures and quick stop-starts bring not only fun but also frequent injuries. According to sportaerztezeitung.com, younger players are more likely to suffer chronic injuries to the upper extremities, while older players are often affected by acute injuries to the lower extremities.
The injury profile in tennis is clear: the most common injuries are to the lower extremities (31-67%), followed by the upper extremities (20-49%). Shoulder and elbow problems are particularly common among athletes, which illustrates the strain when serving and during fast games.
With a well-structured team and the goals of securing their place in the league at an early stage and playing attractively, the BASF TC is looking optimistically into the new season. Spectators can look forward to exciting matches and talented players, while the team remains sensitive to the athletes' personal challenges, such as overcoming injuries.
