Celebrate Saint Martin: Word & Wine in the Pfalzbau on November 7th!

On November 11th it's that time again: the traditions surrounding St. Martin come to life. Every year, children take part in lantern parades, while adults not only enjoy roast goose but also attend church services. These customs have their origins in the legendary story of St. Martin, who more than 1,600 years ago shared his warm coat with a freezing beggar and thereby saved his life. Here in Ludwigshafen the festival is just around the corner and it's being celebrated in a very special way!

In the run-up to the festival, the “Word & Wine” event will take place on Friday, November 7th, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Pfalzbau. MRN-News reports that director Tilman Gersch will deepen the topic of sharing in an exciting conversation with dentist Günter Dhom. This topic is particularly important to the Ludwigshafen Community Foundation. The evening promises not only interesting insights, but also enjoyable moments.

Cultural highlights and local wines

A special highlight is the reading by actor Tobias Lutze, who will present numerous testimonials and legends about Saint Martin. The evening will be accompanied musically by singer Maren Schwier, who will present both spiritual and secular songs. The wine that will be served that evening comes from the St. Martin region in the Palatinate. More precisely, from the Schneider winery in the Altes Schlösschen, an imposing building from the early 16th century that boasts one of the most modern wine presses in the region.
