Sandhausen starts cycling: CITY CYCLING begins with a guided tour!
What's on in Sandhausen? CITY CYCLING starts in the Rhein-Neckar district from Sunday, June 29th! The aim of the campaign, which runs until July 19th, is to collect kilometers, strengthen team spirit and at the same time set an example for sustainable mobility and climate protection. Mayor Hakan Günes calls on citizens to switch to cycling and take an active part. Finally, Sandhausen has continuously improved its mileage over the last three years, which has had a positive impact on the environment.
Last year, a total of 364 participants covered over 67,000 kilometers, avoiding an impressive 11 tons of CO2. With this success behind us, it is all the more important to pedal hard again this year and ensure better air in the cities. And what about your health? Cycling is not only environmentally friendly, but also good for your fitness. It is estimated that just 30 minutes of cycling every day can reduce the risk of lifestyle diseases and increase life expectancy by up to 14 months, as the Federal Environment Agency emphasizes.
Invited to the after-work tour
To make participation even more attractive, a guided after-work tour will take place on Tuesday, July 15th, led by Mayor Günes. This starts at 7.15 p.m. at the town hall forecourt and takes participants on a circular route of around 20 kilometers. The fun is open to everyone and at the same time promotes exchange among cyclists.
The aim of the Germany-wide campaign is to set an example for the future of mobility. According to experts, up to 30% of car journeys in metropolitan areas could be shifted to bicycles, which not only relieves the burden on the environment but also creates space in cities. An example are cities like Copenhagen and Amsterdam, where cycling's share of mobility is very important.
Register now and cycle along
Anyone who wants to take part should register quickly, as the activation of the municipalities can take some time. It is recommended to be patient during this time and wait until the community registration is active. Anyone can easily secure a place in the team via the official website. If you pedal hard, you not only become an environmental protector, but you can also do something for your health and have fun at the same time.
After all, cycling is not just a lifestyle trend, but an easy and cost-effective way to get around. It has many advantages: it saves space, produces hardly any noise and further advances the development of the infrastructure. So, get on your saddles, Sandhausen! Let's work together to ensure more bicycle kilometers and fewer CO2 emissions.
