Speed limit on the A61 between Dorsheim and Waldlaubersheim lifted!

On the A61, between Waldlaubersheim and Dorsheim, drivers are now allowed to drive faster again. The speed limit of 100 km/h, which had been in effect for more than a year due to two bumps, has been lifted. This decision was made by Autobahn GmbH after the dreaded bumps had been successfully eliminated. The necessary work was completed on Sunday, as reported by SWR.

A look at the facts: Almost 46,000 vehicles were flashed at the problematic location. Many drivers expressed suspicion that they were being unfairly penalized as the digital speed display often showed 130 km/h. These legal disputes have already occupied the Bad Kreuznach district court, which is dealing with numerous objections against the fines. However, almost all appeals have so far been rejected.

Controversies surrounding the speed limit

State parliament member Stephan Wefelscheid from the Free Voters sharply criticized the inadequate signage in front of the danger zone. He is calling for a points amnesty for those affected who were put under unnecessary pressure by the strict blitzing. It cannot be overlooked that with such a high speed limit of 130 km/h on other sections of the A61, such as Bussgeldkatalog, many road users are irritated.

The A61 motorway stretches over 313.2 kilometers and crosses the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg. Different types of speed cameras are in use on this busy route: fixed speed cameras, traffic light speed cameras and mobile measuring points. What is particularly interesting is that flashing devices are also being set up near Nettetal, in the direction of Venlo, which is causing quite a stir among drivers.

A look at the speed limits in Germany

The discussion about speed limits is always a hot topic in Germany. Statistics from Statista shows that only a third of the highway kilometers have a speed limit. This fuels the debate about free travel for free citizens and safety measures on our roads. The question remains: How far can we go with the freedom of speed?

With the lifting of the speed limit on the A61, many Cologne drivers could be more excited about going to the workshops and traveling again. But safety should always be the priority. The speed limit is often a matter of common sense and not just a set of rules.
