Everesting in Kallstadt: record-breaking 345 meters in altitude despite a fall!

In Kallstadt, the Everesting event on the Lindemannsruhe caused a lot of waves, even though the original initiator, Christoph Fuhrbach, was no longer able to take part after an accident on Sunday last week. The endurance athlete from Neustadt had planned to master the series of 8,848 meters of altitude through ten ascents in order to draw attention to the “Full of Life” festival, which deals with topics such as sustainability and global justice. Loud Rhine Palatinate On Saturday, June 28th, 345 ascents were counted because other cyclists jumped in and thus ensured the success of the event.

As is often the case with such challenges, community spirit came to the fore. Not only did Fuhrbach complete 47 ascents before his fall, but many other participants also drove early in the morning or after work to actively participate in the route. On Wednesday evening, for example, up to 40 people were on the route at the same time. The response has been great and an evaluation of the entire event is planned for July 7th.

Festival “Full of Life”

The festival, which took place in Kallstadt from June 21st to 29th, combined sporting activities with cultural and social aspects. It included a wide program that included school activities, exhibitions, discussions and film screenings. Cultural highlights such as concerts by “Elsa & the Quarter Tone” and “Khumo” provided additional attraction. A spiritual impulse from Bishop Dr. Karl-Heinz Wiesemann rounded off the offer and made it clear how important the topic of sustainability and global solidarity is for the organizers. The Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Schweitzer, took over the patronage of the festival, which took place in Kallstadt, a model community in the “Palatinate Forest: SDG model region” project. The initiative aims to bring conscious consumption and global responsibility to the forefront. This also includes supporting people who are suffering from the consequences of the climate crisis.
