Neustadt an der Weinstraße: Glamping area planned for nature lovers!

The city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße has big plans for a new glamping area on Branchweilerhofstraße. The idea is to use the area of ​​the former waste management center for tourism and to create a camping option close to nature. This concept was developed in collaboration with the municipal subsidiary LGS gGmbH. When designing the approximately 8 hectare area, which borders the new state garden show park to the north, the attractive views and the proximity to leisure areas should be taken into account. A feasibility study by “Huttopia”, a French provider of sustainable accommodation concepts, has underpinned the plans. Sustainable goals and high demand

The city's sustainable objectives not only include a rezoning of the site, which is planned after the State Horticultural Show in 2028, but also the creation of planning requirements from June 2025. This includes partial changes to the land use plan and the expansion of the "State Horticultural Show" development plan. Incidentally, the feasibility study predicts an additional overnight stay volume of around 75,000 nights per year, assuming occupancy is 60% and there are an average of three people per unit.

The demand for natural and comfortable overnight accommodations in Germany remains high. From July 1, 2025, early participation by the public and specialist authorities is planned, which could be crucial for the further course of the project. In addition, the planned infrastructure, which includes a reception building, sanitary facilities and a workshop area, is intended to make the stay pleasant for guests.

At the same time, the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße is looking for a suitable operator for a long-term lease in order to implement the glamping concept. The idea could not only close a gap in the region's tourism offering, but also make the surrounding area's attractions accessible to holidaymakers and locals. Given this, Neustadt could soon take a big step into the future of sustainable travel with its new offering.
