Stair lift in the Bible Museum: Access for everyone in Neustadt!
In Neustadt an der Weinstraße, access to knowledge and history is now much easier: The Palatinate Adventure Bible Museum recently installed a new stair lift, which makes visiting it much easier for people with walking difficulties. Michael Landgraf, the director of the museum and also chairman of the Palatinate Bible Association, which has run the museum since it was founded in 1999, was pleased about this important innovation. The stair lift, which leads to the large exhibition room and the treasury, was realized with financial support from the Neustadt Schröter Foundation at a total price of around 13,000 euros - the foundation covered half of the costs.
For Landgraf, who has been seen as an ambassador of the Bible in the region since 2015, barrier-free access is a big step towards making the cultural offering accessible to everyone. Every year, the Palatinate Adventure Bible Museum welcomes over 3,000 visitors, including many school classes, who can learn more about the cultural and historical aspects of the Bible here. Impressive Bible treasures from over 900 years are on display in the treasury, including the five “Neustadt Bibles” and Martin Luther’s last Bible translation from the 16th century, which have important historical significance for many.
Various experiences and collections
The Palatinate Adventure Bible Museum has not only distinguished itself through the latest developments. The collection includes numerous copies and fragments of Bible manuscripts that represent pre-existing prints before the Reformation. Visitors can marvel at Reformed, Lutheran and Catholic Bibles. A special attraction is the luxury edition of the Neustadt Bible from 1594, which was acquired in 2019. As one of the few museums of its kind in Rhineland-Palatinate, the house delights guests with interactive experiences: from trying on historical clothing to games from biblical times - the life and culture of bygone eras come to life here.
The museum is worth a visit for anyone who would like to find out more about the exciting world of Bibles. Embedded in the historical ambience of the 'Bible House' at Stiftstrasse 23, it offers an appealing offer for both individuals and school groups. A visit is worthwhile not only for believers, but for anyone interested in history, culture and the shaping of knowledge. The Palatinate Adventure Bible Museum – a place that celebrates the diversity of faith and history!
