Repair instead of throwing away: Repair Café Neuwied takes off!

What's new in Neuwied? On October 22nd, the Repair Café Neuwied will open its doors again and invites everyone who doesn't want to part with their broken items. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors have the opportunity to bring their portable household appliances and clothing items to be repaired. The event takes place in the district meeting at Rheintalweg 14, a warm place that invites exchange and interaction. View current reports on the positive experiences that the participants can have there.

But what exactly is behind these repair cafés? In Neuwied, located under the auspices of the city administration's neighborhood management and the multi-generational house, volunteer repairers have the opportunity to use their skills to help others. This is done not only by repairing, but also by creating a meeting place that promotes sustainable living. Repair initiatives provides information about the diverse aspects of this initiative.

Repair instead of throwing away

Repair Cafés like in Neuwied are safe places where people not only learn how to repair their broken things themselves, but also acquire new skills. The initiatives are part of an international network that includes over 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide. The advantage? The Repair Café has tools and materials available to help people repair anything - be it furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, or even clothing! Repair Café clarifies that these meetings do not compete with professional repair services, but rather serve to promote knowledge of repair skills in the community.

Beginners and experienced craftsmen meet here, show each other tricks or help with repairs. The basic idea is simple: Don't just throw away damaged things, but find ways to make them functional again. And not just for practical reasons: repairing can reduce CO2 emissions caused by the manufacture of new products. If you are interested in the next events at the Repair Café, you should register in good time as places are limited!

Preparation is everything

Participation in the Repair Café requires advance registration, which is easy. Just call or write an email! For the district meeting, the telephone number is 02631 863 070, email: stadtteilbuero@stadt-neuwied.de.
