Postal employees cycle 3,000 km to see Santa Claus: an adventure!

In an impressive feat, three postal workers from Germany have reached Santa Claus Village in Lapland, northern Finland, after 16 days of adventure. The route of almost 3,000 kilometers took them through picturesque landscapes in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and finally Finland. The main purpose of the trip was to hand over wish lists previously collected from children to send their Christmas wishes directly to Santa Claus.
How RPR1 reported, the trio made their way from St. Nicholas in Saarland on August 8, 2025, where a St. Nicholas actor gave them a personal letter to Santa Claus. On their way they had two yellow postal bikes and an off-road bike, all without electric motors. They were accompanied by a vehicle that transported their clothing, tools and spare parts.

The cyclists, consisting of 51-year-old Simone Nehring from Bremen as well as Artur Hajduk and Ralf Schüttler, know each other from the Swiss Post national cycling team. Before embarking on this adventurous project, they had already undertaken other extreme tours, such as from the Spreewald to Venice.

Do good with every turn of the pedal

In addition to the sporting ambition, this tour also focuses on a wonderful charitable cause. The cyclists collect donations for the “Bunter Kreis Hagen” association, which supports families with seriously ill children. This affair of the heart also brings a high emotional value to their adventurous journey.
The main stop after handing over the wish lists in Santa Claus Village will be the North Cape, for which they plan to cover another 700 kilometers. A daily distance of up to 250 kilometers is planned to reach the goal.

Last winter, the St. Nicholas Post Office answered over 33,000 letters from children who were waiting in anticipation for the arrival of Santa Claus. Santa Claus, who gave the group a letter to Santa Claus in the initial phase of the trip, is also looking forward to a response from the far north.

This 13th Santa Claus Bike Ride is another example of how sport and social responsibility can go hand in hand. It is proof that through the goodwill and commitment of some, others can be reached and supported. Whether cycling or at Christmas time - it's the togetherness that counts.
