Sonnenhof Reckershausen: First youth-friendly oasis for adventurers!

In the picturesque Hunsrück, where the air is fresh and the landscape is inviting, the Sonnenhof in Reckershausen recently received a special award: it was the first institution to be recognized as particularly youth-friendly. Rhein-Zeitung reports that this award does not come by chance. The Sonnenhof promotes an environment that is free of cell phones and alcohol, and this applies not only to the young guests but also to the adults who enjoy their stay.

What makes the Sonnenhof so special? Here girls can live out their passion for horses and riding. During the riding holidays there is space for up to 22 children to experience adventures together and make new friends. This is also confirmed by the personal story of Ella Trabert, who spent her first riding holiday at the Sonnenhof around 14 years ago. Today, at 20, she occasionally acts as a carer herself and passes on her experience.

The type of vacation

The children's and youth riding holidays combine adventure with language courses in an exciting way. Riding Holiday Agency explains that the programs are specifically intended for young people traveling alone. This not only promotes riding, but also the children's independence, which offers parents an interesting opportunity to give their offspring a first step towards independence.

Parents should view the stay as preparation for independence. The separation can often be easier for the children than for the parents themselves. The facility recommends allowing a few days of patience until the children get used to the new environment. Telephone call arrangements between parents and children are helpful in maintaining contact without hindering integration into the group.

Packing list for riding holidays

Parents receive an information letter with important information about the holiday program. The Sonnenhof offers a detailed packing list to ensure that the children are well prepared for the time. This includes, among other things:

  • Sonnencreme, Sonnenhut, Sonnenbrille
  • Stabile Schuhe (keine Flip-Flops)
  • Wechselkleidung und warme Sachen
  • Regenjacke und Gummistiefel
  • Ggf. Medikamente (mit ausgefülltem Formular)
  • Hosen, die sich gut zum Reiten eignen (am besten Jeans ohne grobe Innennähte)
  • Leichte Schuhe ohne hohe Absätze
  • Reithelm (wird gestellt)

The children receive comprehensive care and support from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The responsible teacher is available at any time to answer any questions.

Overall, it shows that the Sonnenhof in Reckershausen not only receives an award for its youth-friendly orientation, but also offers a great opportunity to experience new adventures with friends and discover your love of horses. A truly unique experience for children and young people!
