Break-in at Elzer gas station: Perpetrators flee with cigarettes!

On the night of Saturday, September 6, 2025, a break-in occurred at a gas station in Elz, Limburg. At 2:04 a.m. two unknown perpetrators forced their way through the front door and stole several packs of cigarettes. The perpetrators were able to flee in a vehicle in an unknown direction. At the time there was a 37-year-old employee in the office who escaped through the back exit and was able to prevent something worse from happening. The exact amount of the stolen goods is still unclear. The Limburg criminal police are now looking for witnesses and are asking for information on 06431-9140-0, as news.de reports.

Another violent event occurred on Friday, September 5, 2025, in Hünfelden-Dauborn. The police were alerted here because of a dispute. A 21-year-old man attacked officers with a knife but threw it to the ground before being arrested. During the arrest, the aggressor resisted and pepper spray had to be used. After his arrest, he was taken to the police station and later released. What is striking is that the same man showed up at the address again in the afternoon and once again resisted arrest, which resulted in a new case for resisting law enforcement officers. Two police officers suffered minor injuries during these operations, as the Limburg Police reported.

Bicycle theft causes resentment

Also on Friday, bicycles were stolen on Grabenstrasse in Limburg. A 52-year-old man had his Pedelec, worth around 6,000 euros, securely secured to a traffic light pole with a lock. When he returned, however, he discovered that both the Pedelec and the lock had disappeared. In this case too, the police are asking for information on 06431-9140-0.

Crime in Germany at a glance

statista.com shows.

In the 2024 crime statistics, theft and fraud are the most common crimes. Crimes against life, such as murder and manslaughter, remain a rare exception, accounting for only 0.1% of cases. The clearance rate has fallen slightly and stands at 58%, which increases the pressure on the investigating authorities.

The region around Limburg is not only faced with challenges when it comes to burglaries. The infrastructure is not neglected either, as the final expansion of the roads in Dietkirchen begins on September 8th in order to create a permanent transport infrastructure for previously provisional areas. These measures could cause traffic inconveniences in the coming weeks, which is why the city administration is asking for understanding.
