The change comes after the death two years ago of Andreas Kotulla, who had previously headed the school for a long time. Bernardi, who applied for the office, is convinced that she is “the right person at the right time in the right place,” as she emphasized in her first statement. The school community and the school authority fully support her application, which makes the anticipation for the coming years tangible. There are currently 642 students attending the school, which is looked after by almost 60 teachers, a good mix that can have a positive influence on the learning atmosphere.

The Edith Stein Girls' High School is very popular not only in Speyer, but also beyond the city limits. The school is recognized as a Catholic girls' school and places particular emphasis on in-depth training in various disciplines. The Archbishop's Edith Stein High School in Munich, which was founded in 1847, could serve as a model. It offers a variety of school branches, including linguistics, science and technology, and economics and social sciences.
