Discover Frankenthal's secrets on a free cemetery tour!

Frankenthal has a special treat for history buffs next Sunday, July 6th. The Antiquities Association invites you to a free cemetery tour that begins at 2 p.m. Led by Werner Schäfer, the author of the cemetery guide, participants explore the hidden corners and old graves of the main cemetery.

This guided tour focuses primarily on the people whose names the streets in the area bear, especially Mahlastrasse and Foltzring. This tour not only offers interesting insights into the history of these figures, but also important information about the tombs that are often overlooked.

Registration and participation

To participate, you must register at least one day before the event. This ensures that all visitors can be equipped with a radio system and special headphones that are also suitable for people with hearing aids. Those interested can either contact us by email stadtfuehrung@frankenthaler-altertumsverein.de or online via the website www.frankenthal.de/stadtfuehrungen register.

The event lasts about 90 minutes and started at the meeting point in front of the cemetery hall. It should be remembered that participation is free, but donations to the antiquities association are warmly welcomed.

A look beyond the borders of Frankenthal

Cemetery tours are not only popular in Frankenthal. In Munich, for example, a variety of guided tours are also offered in the Old Southern Cemetery, which at 450 years old is the oldest cemetery in the city. Depending on the topic, these last up to two and a half hours and provide interesting information about the city's cultural development. Such tours are a wonderful way to learn more about the history and the stories behind the names.

In this sense, the cemetery tour in Frankenthal is not only an opportunity to learn something about the past, but also an invitation to rediscover the hidden treasures of our surroundings. Get ready to go on an exciting journey and don't forget to register on time!
