Kleinniedesheim residents demand more culture – who will join in?
In Kleinniedesheim, a small town full of charm, two villagers are upset about the rather subdued public life in their community. Ruth Marienhoff and Wolfgang Schmitt feel the need to enliven the local cultural offerings and are therefore looking for like-minded people who share their visions. As rheinpfalz.de reports, they have already taken the first steps to bring more momentum into village life.
Although a lot of things are already on offer on site - such as the traditional Kerwe, the pre-Christmas tower blowing and sporadic art exhibitions in the castle of the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis - the cultural life of the people of Kleinniedesheim feels quite manageable. Although the gymnastics club provides exercise and community, Marienhoff and Schmitt believe there is a clear need for more events that strengthen the sense of community.
A call for participation
In order to realize their ideas, the two initiators plan to call a meeting to recruit other villagers. “It can’t be the case that we no longer cherish the little joys in life!” says Marienhoff. With this impassioned call, they hope to motivate local residents to take part and start a broader discussion about improving cultural offerings.
The idea of creating more events could not only enrich village life, but also create an incentive to attract more people to the community. “A lively village is a happy village!” adds Schmitt. Together they want to plan a mix of cultural, sporting and social events that offer something for everyone.
Ways to be more active
Even if the visions are great, the question remains as to what resources and support are necessary to realize these plans. In particular, collaboration with existing clubs and organizations could open up new avenues here. The two villagers are determined to explore these possibilities.
How the initiative develops and whether it will succeed in enriching cultural life in Kleinniedesheim remains exciting. But one thing is certain: there are many ways to create a good village life, and Marienhoff and Schmitt have already taken the first steps. Let us hope that their efforts find open ears! As I said, there's something going on, so let's go to the next community meeting!
