Schönenberg-Kübelberg has a real insider tip for everyone looking for a welcome place to cool off: the beer cellar, a unique excursion destination, attracts visitors from all over Germany. Holger Weyand, a trained brewer, guides interested guests through this historic place, which previously served as a cold storage facility and air raid shelter. “Here you will not only find cool drinks, but also a refreshing atmosphere,” reports Rhine Palatinate.
The beer cellar has become a popular destination in recent years, especially in the warm months. “Many visitors appreciate the cool environment and the opportunity to learn about the history of the cellar operation,” says Weyand. Together with Barbara Kobza and Stephanie Kaiser, he offers guided tours that take you through the impressive history of the place.
Visiting times and offers
Every first Sunday of the month, anyone interested can dive into the beer cellar for free from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Guided tours outside of regular opening hours are also possible for groups. These last about an hour and cost €50.00 for groups. The beer cellar can accommodate a maximum of 20 people per tour; larger groups will be divided up. Via the community website Schönenberg-Kübelberg Further bookings and an optional supporting program that includes hikes and beer tastings can be organized.
The address of the beer cellar is Bahnhofstraße 57 C, and the entrance is in the backyard. Parking options are available for the journey, including two spaces for people with reduced mobility. For everyone else, there is parking just a five-minute walk away, between the Agricultural Machinery Service Glöckner and the Cavemen MC clubhouse. “This makes it easy for everyone to have a lovely afternoon,” said a satisfied visitor.
