On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Welschgasse in Frankenthal will be transformed into a lively community center. On the occasion of “Open Society Day”, the city library invites all citizens to talk to each other over coffee and cookies from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This centerpiece event is organized in close cooperation between the city library and the Frankenthal Alliance for Democracy, Diversity and Human Rights in order to share positive and negative experiences about living together and to discover new perspectives.
The event is aimed at everyone – young and old – and offers the opportunity to take part without registering. In a relaxed atmosphere, visitors can paint or write their thoughts and ideas for a positive way of living together on a community picture in the shop window of the city library. The aim is to create a colorful mosaic piece to promote openness, cohesion and diversity.
Conversations promote democracy and understanding
The “Open Society Day” aims to reduce prejudices and set an example for democracy. The conversations are intended to address aspects that shape our everyday lives - whether they are enjoyable or challenging. It will be exciting to see what topics will be discussed and what experiences the participants will share with each other. The organizers are sure that many impressive and enriching conversations will take place on this day.
