There is exciting news for all music-loving young people in Germany! The call for entries for the renowned “Jugend musiziert 2026” competition was published today. Schoolchildren, trainees, young professionals and students without professional musical training can now register. The deadline is November 15, 2025, so act quickly and register via the official website www.jugend-musiziert.org make!
A special feature this year: “Jugend musiziert” not only promotes musical ability, but also encounters among young people. This means that there is a real togetherness here that goes beyond the mere competitive atmosphere. Since 1964, the competition has produced many talents and provided impulses for musical life in Germany.
Diverse competition categories
The competition offers a variety of categories that appeal to both soloists and ensembles:
- Solowertung: Klavier, Harfe, Gesang, Drum-Set (Pop), Gitarre (Pop)
- Ensemblewertung:
- Kammermusik für Streichinstrumente (2-5 Musizierende)
- Kammermusik für Blasinstrumente (2-5 Musizierende)
- Kammermusik für gemischte Ensembles (6-13 Musizierende)
- Akkordeon-Kammermusik (2-5 Musizierende)
- Besondere Besetzungen: Neue Musik (bis zu 13 Musizierende)
- Offene Kammermusik (2-13 Musizierende)
- Kategorie Jumu open
The “Jumu open” category in particular is new and will be held at several state competitions in 2026. This exciting category aims to promote a unity of improvisation, composition and interpretation. Here participants can create new perspectives on existing works and experiment with different styles and genres, also in connection with other arts such as words, light and scene.
Relevant dates and competitions
The advertisement and all necessary information are available www.jugend-musiziert.org/ausscription.html available for download. However, participants can register for the “Jumu open” categories until January 15, 2026, which gives them a little more time.
Another highlight is already coming next year: the national competition “Youth making music” will take place in Wuppertal from June 5th to 11th, 2025. Over 1,800 young musicians will take part in the final and present their talents to a broad public. There will be numerous public competitions where participants can show off their skills, and outstanding musicians will be honored in award winner concerts. Solo rating categories such as string instruments, percussion and pop vocals can also be selected here.
