Water and wastewater prices are rising drastically in Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben!
In the municipality of Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben it will now be more expensive for citizens, both for water and wastewater disposal. The fee increase will come into effect retroactively, presenting many households with an unexpected financial challenge. How Rhine Palatinate reported, not only the prices for water are affected, but also those for wastewater disposal. The area coverage includes the locations of the Sickingerhöhe-Wallhalbtal water association, which also includes the former association communities of Wallhalben, Maßweiler, Reifenberg and Höheinöd.
The factory committee decided on the new fees after the last increase was some time ago. Plant manager Joachim Becker explained the need for this increase, especially because the increase at the beginning of the year was not enough to cover rising costs. Water prices will rise by 37 cents per cubic meter, while wastewater fees will increase from 3.41 euros to 3.49 euros per cubic meter. This represents an increase of 8 cents, or about 2.3 percent, according to the Saarbrücken newspaper reported.
Concrete effects on households
The fee increases affect all households in the municipality and have a major impact on their wallets. An example makes this clear: A two- to three-person household with a property size of 950 square meters and a water supply of 89 cubic meters will have to expect around 33 euros more in 2025. In addition to these increases, there is also a surcharge of 20 percent for the size of the property, as well as a recurring contribution for undeveloped, developed properties (vacancies).
The new fee for fresh water consumption will then be 1.48 euros per cubic meter, which corresponds to an increase of around 6.4 percent. The cost of water meters also increases by 12 euros, so the cheapest water meter now costs 96 euros per year. The remainder of the former VG Thaleischweiler-Fröschen continue to pay 1.00 euros per cubic meter of fresh water, which represents a slightly lower burden.
Conclusion and outlook
In summary, it can be said that water and wastewater prices in the Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben municipality will increase noticeably. Increasing fees is not only a reaction to past price developments, but also a necessary measure to ensure future quality of care. Citizens must now prepare for these changes and adapt their budget planning to cope with the increased financial burden.
