Attention, speed camera weekend! Where controls are carried out in the Trier region today!
In the Trier, Luxembourg and Saarland regions, drivers today have to be prepared to keep an eye on their speed. On July 17, 2025, the Trier public order office will carry out speed measurements in several places. At a time when road safety is very important, one could say: There is something going on!
As already reported by lokalo.de, the measurements are carried out at the following locations:
- B257, Irrel
- B41, Birkenfeld
- K134, Konz
- Riesenhaff, N 23 (morgens)
- Heffingen, Op der Strooss (mittags)
- Huncherange, rue de Noertzange (mittags)
Speed cameras are also active in Saarland, namely on the routes:
- L 266, zwischen Göttelborn und Humes
- B 51, zwischen Saarhölzbach und Merzig
- B 41, zwischen Wolfersweiler und Oberlinxweiler
Fines and points
Speeding is expensive. Anyone caught speeding in urban areas must expect the following fines, which vary depending on the speed limit:
| Exceedance (km/h) | Fine (€) | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Until 10 | 58.50 | 0 |
| 11 – 15 | 78.50 | 0 |
| 16 – 20 | 98.50 | 0 |
| 21 – 25 | 143.50 | 1 |
| Over 25 | Suspended sentences | 1-2 |
These fines don’t just apply in urban areas. Even outside of town, speeding is severely punished, as described on bussgeldkatalog.de. And of course that means that drivers should be particularly careful!
The measurement method
But how do the authorities get these speed measurements? After all, they use various technologies, including radar systems, light barriers and laser measuring devices. These must all be technically tested and approved before they are used. According to the ADAC, it is also permissible to flash in unfavorable weather conditions such as rain or black ice. Only the legal framework and distances to traffic signs must be adhered to.
Road safety plays a central role - the police and regulatory authorities hope to use these controls to defuse dangerous traffic situations and enforce the rules. As already mentioned, there are many different measuring methods in Germany, all of which serve safety!
Overall, it is clear that anyone driving the roads in the Trier region and its surroundings today should pay more attention to their speed. After all, no one has to dig unnecessarily deep into their pockets if there is another way.
