Big police check in Worms: Escape and unlicensed driver!

On October 28, 2025, the Gau-Bickelheim motorway police carried out a large-scale check on the B47 in the direction of the A61. The period of this operation was from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and its main focus was on checking vehicles and people who could be linked to property crimes. A total of 40 vehicles were checked and some shocking violations were discovered.

What was particularly noticeable was that several drivers were driving without a valid driving license. A 32-year-old man was caught driving a Mercedes Sprinter while apparently just picking up the vehicle from a friend. The same was true for a 42-year-old driver who was driving a VW Crafter - he also did not have a valid driver's license and had taken the car from a friend. These findings are not only alarming, but also show how important such controls are for road safety.

Pursuit drive as the highlight of control

One of the highlights of the inspection was the chase that took place at 4:15 p.m. A 23-year-old driver of a blue Opel Vectra with Lithuanian license plates ignored police stop signals and fled. The officers followed him in a civilian vehicle until they were finally able to catch him. Not only did the driver not have a license, but the vehicle was neither insured nor registered. He was also advertised for a residence investigation. The vehicle has been seized and several charges are expected, including illegal street racing and driving without a license.

In addition, a 39-year-old driver of a Peugeot was on site and was able to continue driving by paying an arrest warrant. These events highlight the challenges that the police face in ensuring public order and security.

The importance of police checks

But why are such checks sometimes unpleasant for drivers? A look at the regulations shows that drivers must show their personal details, vehicle documents and driving license during a check. However, it is advisable to remain calm and polite during these processes. There is no need to comment on certain questions, such as whereabouts. The police do not have permission to search the car during general traffic stops unless there is a search warrant or there is imminent danger. This also applies to searching people or checking cell phones.

Drivers are also not obliged to agree to a breath alcohol test or rapid drug test, although the police can order a blood test in suspicious cases. If you have any questions about your own legal situation, we recommend that you seek legal advice. This information is not only important for those affected, but should also contribute to general education in order to avoid misunderstandings.

The police control measures are not only a means of combating crime, but also an important step towards increasing road safety. Everyone should be aware of the role they play on the road and take responsibility.
