Advent calendar from Lions Help inspires: 6500 euros for good causes!
The holiday season is gaining in splendor because the Homburg-Saar-Palatinate Lions Club has launched its traditionally popular Advent calendar campaign for the 15th time, a program that not only brings joy but also does good. Franziska Zadra, a committed member of the club, expresses her joy at supporting the campaign. Particularly noteworthy is the main prize, a voucher for a weekend at the Romantik Hotel Landschloss Fasanerie, which Zadra contributed herself. Last year it was the Rohrbacher jewelry manufacturer that sponsored the main prize.
Dieter Morgenroth, chairman of the Lions Aid, reports a very positive response to this new main prize. The calendar, whose ticket number in door number 1 invites participants to the competition, boosted sales considerably. 250 non-cash prizes and vouchers, with a total value of over 6,500 euros, are on the list of prizes that will be raffled off during the Christmas lottery.
Proceeds for social projects
The big prize, which was hidden in the 24th door, went to a Mrs. Graf from Altstadt, who lovingly bought the calendar for her son. He spent Christmas with his family and then found out that he had won. The calendars were sold, among other places, in the Hahn bookstore in Limbach. The campaign generated a total of around 7,500 euros for Lions aid, which can be converted directly into social projects. For example, last year 2,100 euros were used to support student exchanges at the Saarpfalz-Gymnasium with young people from Georgia.
Another 1,000 euros went to a family from St. Ingbert who had to buy necessities after a devastating house fire. A similar amount was allocated for multifunctional cooking and heating ovens to be distributed in Ukraine. In addition to all of this and more, the club is regularly involved in Lions Germany's children's and youth projects.
Joy about the main prize
The lucky winning couple, Marcus and Ms. Graf, are now planning to redeem their gourmet weekend in the summer. Marcus Graf, who lives in Waiblingen, originally comes from Altstadt. The teaching couple was in the Pheasantry for the first time and were thrilled by the special atmosphere. A dinner together with the couple's parents rounded off the experience.
A similar campaign is also offered by the Lions Relief Organization Hilden e.V., which is inviting people to the 18th edition of its Advent calendar this year. 4,000 numbered calendars are on sale here for 7 euros each, with prices reaching a total value of around 22,000 euros. The main prize in Hilden is a cash prize of 1000 euros, and the proceeds from the campaign go directly to furnishing the rooms of the Evangelisches Kinderheim e.V. in Hilden. This association can look back on a history of success; since its founding in 1989, over 1.68 million euros have been raised for social purposes.
An exciting week for the Lions Club, which has the well-being of the community in mind both emotionally with the profits and financially with the proceeds from the campaigns. While the Homburg Advent calendar campaign is inspiring, Hilden is presenting a similar initiative and showing how much potential there is in joint commitment.
