EHC Zweibrücken loses dramatically against Pforzheim in their home game!
In ice hockey, every point is valuable, and EHC Zweibrücken felt that painfully on Friday evening. The “Hornets” met 1. CFR Pforzheim in the St. Maur Hall. In front of around 140 spectators, the fans saw a thrilling encounter that ultimately ended in a 4:6 defeat for the Hornets. Although the Zweibrücken team presented themselves well at the start of the game, their efforts were ultimately not rewarded with points.
The “Hornets” got off to a furious start and took the lead with an early goal from Alex Kotasek in the 11th minute. Just a minute later, Michael Outzen increased the score to 2-0. But the joy was short-lived as Nicolas Nölting scored for Pforzheim in the 14th minute. In the 19th minute, Jacob Ratcliffe restored the Hornets' two-goal lead, but the guests did not allow themselves to be discouraged and in an exciting comeback in the second third they equalized to make it 3-3.
Turning point in the second third
The decisive moment of the game came when CfR assistant coach Marc Hemmerich changed the goal at halftime. Nicolas Alvarez came into the game and served Pforzheim's offensive line, which took advantage of the majority in the 26th minute. Frans Landström and Alex Kepic then gave the guests the lead. With another goal from Oliver Walvaag in the 32nd minute, Pforzheim even put a two-goal lead on the scoreboard.
The Hornets increased their effort in the final third, but it wasn't enough. Landström made it 5:3 in the 45th minute, while Stephen Brüstle gave hope again in the 56th minute when he reduced the score to 4:5. But the final blow belonged to Oliver Cabala, who scored the final score of 6:4 for Pforzheim in the 59th minute.
Outlook for the next game
After this bitter defeat, the “Hornets” only have a short time to collect themselves. Next Sunday, November 17th, they will compete against Schwenninger ERC at 6:30 p.m. in the Ice Arena. The team will do everything it can to make up for the lost points and reward the fans for their support. The hope is high that the “Hornets” can flip the switch again on Sunday and get the win back to prove their passion and commitment.
Overall, this match shows once again how exciting and unpredictable ice hockey can be. The fans in the St. Maur Hall must now hope that the team will find its way back to its former glory and make the following games more successful. The heart of the Zweibrücken ice hockey community continues to beat for the “Hornets”!
