Zweibrücken: Young track and field athletes celebrate an impressive start to the competition!
Last weekend, the new additions to the VT Zweibrücken track and field athletes, David Bauer and Ole Schöndorf, celebrated their successful debut in their first competition. Both athletes were able to achieve personal bests and thus qualify for the South German Championships, which will take place in Frankfurt/Main at the beginning of February. David Bauer, at the tender age of 15, ran the 800 meter distance in an impressive 2:02.74 minutes, while 16-year-old Ole Schöndorf was impressive with a time of 2:06.33 minutes. These achievements were particularly remarkable because Schöndorf had health problems last year and is now full of energy again in his career. VTZ running coach Klaus Klein expressed optimism and sees the qualification standard of 2:05.00 minutes for Schöndorf clearly within reach.
The next competition for the two talents is at the Saar-Palatinate Championships, which will take place this weekend in Saarbrücken. It remains exciting to see whether they can repeat their remarkable achievements again.
