Pedelec riding safety training: Use your strengths and cycle safely!

More and more people in Cologne and the surrounding area are using Pedelecs as an environmentally friendly means of transport. It is essential to learn how to ride this motorized bike safely. For all cyclists who want to improve their skills, the ADAC Saarland Pedelec driving safety training on Friday, July 18th. From 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., participants can expand their theoretical knowledge and practical skills at the ADAC traffic training area in Saarbrücken-Dudweiler.

But why is such training important? According to current indications, the number of accidents involving Pedelec riders is increasing, especially for adults and seniors. Differences to conventional bicycles should not be underestimated: Pedelecs accelerate faster and also weigh more, which leads to longer braking distances. These aspects are covered in the training in order to reduce uncertainty and increase road safety.   • Technik-Check: Sattel- und Lenkerverstellung, Bremsen, Schalten, Motorunterstützung

  • Bremstechniken: Vorderrad- und Hinterradbremsung sowie Gefahrenbremsungen
  • Kurven: Verschiedene Kurvenstile und Schrägfahrt
  • Fahrphysik: Gespräche zu geeigneter Ausrüstung und Fahrtechnik

Overview of the security initiative

Regular training, such as that offered by the ADAC, helps to increase road safety. Every year around 4,500 drivers and motorcyclists do their rounds of driving safety training in the Dudweiler district of Saarbrücken.
