Homburg swimmers shine with records and medals in Kaiserslautern!
The swimming club 1926 Homburg e. V. caused a sensation last weekend at the 57th KSK national swimming festival in Kaiserslautern. With a team of 14 members – 8 boys and 6 girls – the club was well represented and was able to achieve numerous personal bests and medals. The athletes were trained by Nele Bär and Adriana Hofmann, both former competitive swimmers who are currently preparing for their coaching license in competitive swimming. Her experience certainly helped the team to successfully overcome the challenges Homburg1 reports.
Particularly outstanding was the performance of the young swimmer Harley-Benedict Schaaf-Tempel (2015), who set five new best times and improved his time by more than 15 seconds in the 100 m backstroke. This shows how well the German Swimming Association's (DSV) systematic promotion of young talent, which relies on age-appropriate training content and competition structures, works. The concepts have been further developed over the years to optimally support the performance development of young talents and are a crucial building block for a successful career in swimming according to DSV.
Versatile talents and a shower of medals
Mathilda Kunz (2012) and Paul Markow (2015) also stood out by setting four personal records each in different disciplines, including the 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley. The Hinkelmann siblings, Hanna (2009) and Mika (2011), as well as the two swimmers from the same age group, Mia Josephine and Matteo Wagner (both 2012), also shone with new best times. Cara Sommer (2017) and Emelie Baum (2014) improved significantly on the sprint routes.
The team's medal haul was impressive. The talented Julia Marie Berdel (2017) won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals and also set three personal records. Her colleague Lennard Bernd Baus (2016) took first place and three silver medals, while Paul Markow even won the 100 m butterfly. A full set of medals went to Harley-Benedict Schaaf-Tempel, and Jule Anton (2017) and Mathilda Kunz were also able to climb onto the podium and take home medals saarnews reports.
Successful club work
The strong performance at the swimming festival impressively documents the successful youth work of the Homburg swimming club, which was founded in 1926 and has established itself as one of the swimming clubs with the largest number of members in Saarland. He offers a wide range of recreational and competitive sports in the disciplines of swimming and triathlon and trains in the modern KOI Bad & Sauna in Homburg.
Overall, this competition not only brought to life the competitive spirit, but also the good preparation and support of the athletes, which is supported by a committed team of trainers and structured youth work. It will be exciting to see how Homburg's talents will develop in the future, because there is still a lot of potential!
