Homburg's traditional company Jung celebrates 100 years - future plan in sight!
A very special anniversary will be celebrated in Homburg on July 11, 2025: The traditional company “A6 Jung Fahrzeugbau” looks back on a proud 100 years of company history. Founded in 1925 by Robert Jung as a blacksmith and carriage blacksmith, the company has since specialized in the commercial vehicle sector and is now an integral part of the automotive supply industry. While many companies in Germany are facing challenges due to the change to electromobility, Homburg remains an important location for supplier companies, including giants such as Bosch and Michelin, but also numerous medium-sized companies [saarbruecker-zeitung.de].
With more than 120 employees at the location on Michelinstrasse in the Homburg East Industrial Area, Erbach district, “A6 Jung” shows strength and continuity. Numerous guests are expected at the big celebration on Wednesday, August 13th, including Saarland's Economics Minister Jürgen Barke. A sign that the company is not only well positioned, but also enjoys political support.
An important player in motorsport
In recent years, the workforce at “A6 Jung” has made a name for itself not only in the commercial vehicle sector, but also in motorsport. Among other things, the company is the manufacturer of the special Formula 1 transport trailer for the Mercedes AMG team, which is referred to internally as RT4. This trailer was specially designed to safely transport the racing cars of superstars such as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. In this way, “A6 Jung” shows that they are at the forefront both in traditional use and in high-performance sport rheinpfalz.de.
But what does the future look like? The automotive supply industry as a whole is under pressure. According to current statistics, up to 90% of all new passenger cars are expected to be electric vehicles by 2035. Suppliers inevitably have to adapt to this change because traditional products are experiencing a significant decline in demand. Three out of four large German suppliers are already planning significant job cuts statista.com.
A look into the future
Although sales in the German automotive supply industry exceeded the 90 billion euro mark in 2023, the operating profit of many entrepreneurs is still at a low level. Against this background, it will be exciting to see how “A6 Jung” will develop in the coming years. However, the company seems to have a good knack for innovation and adaptation, which is already reflected in its previous successes.
While the automotive industry is undergoing upheaval, Homburg with “A6 Jung” remains an important player in the industry that combines tradition with progress. The anniversary and the upcoming celebrations are not only a tribute to the past, but also a sign of a hopefully successful future.
