Price increases at Bostalsee: What now applies to leisure guests!

The leisure and tourism landscape at Bostalsee will change significantly in 2026. At the last district council meeting in St. Wendel, various fees for the coming season were discussed, and there was both positive and negative news. A positive point: the entrance fees for the beach resorts and the parking fees remain unchanged. [saarbruecker-zeitung] reports that the fee structure for parking spaces includes a year-round obligation from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The minimum fee for up to one hour is 1 euro, while a day ticket for more than three hours is 6 euros.

The Bosen and Gonnesweiler beaches continue to offer affordable entry fees. Children and young people aged 6 and over pay a price of 2 euros, while adults pay 6 euros for a day ticket. These stable prices delight many visitors who regularly enjoy the beautiful beaches on Bostalsee.

Increase in usage fees

However, the discussion about increasing fees for fishermen and boaters brought less positive news. The day ticket for sailboats with a berth will increase from 18 euros to 24 euros, while without a berth the price will rise to 21 euros. Price increases are also planned for monthly tickets, each of which will cost 5 euros more.

The areas of paddling and stand-up paddling in particular are becoming the focus of price adjustments. One proposal is to double the day ticket for these activities from 5 to 10 euros. The CDU suggested a gradual increase - starting with an increase to 7 euros next year. Opinions are quite divided when it comes to the adjustments.

Modernization of the campsite

The campsite at Bostalsee will continue to be a central part of the leisure offering, according to District Administrator Udo Recktenwald, who described it as the “heart”. In order to increase the attractiveness of the campsite, extensive renovations are planned. However, these measures cannot be financed by the district alone. A partnership between LEG Saar and the district is planned to make the campsite more attractive and, if necessary, bring it onto the market while the district remains the owner. LEG Saar will carry out a study to modernize the square.

The costs for planning and commissioning in this partnership will also initially be borne by LEG. However, if no leasehold building rights come into effect within 36 months, the costs will be borne by the district. In the decisive district council vote, all members voted to cover the costs and the new fee regulations for 2026.

What should we learn from this? A lot of visitors are expected for the upcoming leisure activities at Bostalsee, despite the higher fees in some areas. The region is already looking forward to the new season.
