Danger of severe weather in Saarland: Thunderstorms and heat await us today!
It's getting hot in Saarland! Today, June 14, 2025, the thermometer reaches values of over 30 degrees. Loud Saarbrücken newspaper The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official heat warning for all districts in Saarland. This applies from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. So if you want to have a good time, you should be careful; people with weak circulation and sick people are particularly asked to minimize their outdoor activities and drink enough fluids.
In the afternoon, however, there is not only a threat of mid-summer temperatures, but also gathering clouds and an increased risk of thunderstorms. The first thunderstorms could occur in the west and southwest in the morning, with increasingly strong thunderstorms from the afternoon onwards. The DWD warns of heavy rain and gusts of wind that can reach up to 100 km/h. Heavy rain with amounts of over 25 l/sqm could fall in a short period of time, increasing the risk of severe weather.
What awaits us in the coming days?
In the evening it becomes unstable, with temperatures dropping to around 21 degrees at night, and locally up to 16 degrees. We can expect a rainy start to Sunday, with heavy showers and further thunderstorms, although these are mostly localized. From the afternoon onwards the weather will calm down again and the maximum temperatures are likely to be around 25 degrees. After a cool night with temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees, Monday continues to be friendly, with pleasant temperatures of 24 to 27 degrees.
And Tuesday also lives up to the beautiful summer weather: with temperatures that can reach up to 29 degrees, it gets up to 25 degrees in the mountains and the sky remains clear while there is no precipitation in sight. The nights remain pleasantly mild with temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees in the lowlands and up to 8 degrees in the valleys.
All in all, a hot weekend is in sight that could tempt many of us to spend time outdoors. But be careful: Even in hot weather, it is important to take care of yourself and drink enough water. When thunderstorms are forecast, it is worth staying alert and seeking shelter in good time.
