On June 15, 2025, a very special highlight awaits visitors in Gersheim-Niedergailbach: This ASV Niedergailbach pond festival opens its doors at 10 a.m. The event begins with a convivial morning pint, accompanied musically by the Gälbach brass musicians. Such a mix of good music and fine food always attracts large numbers of people in the region.
From 12 p.m. the culinary diversity becomes concrete. For fish lovers, there are not only fine trout fillets and smoked trout, the popular Schwenker and sausages are also a must. If you like something more colorful, you can try the vegetable skewers in beer batter with dips. And that's just the beginning - a large cake buffet provides sweet temptations later.
Entertainment for young and old
The band “The Vikings” will entertain festival visitors with their music throughout the afternoon. And the little guests don't miss out either: a bouncy castle ensures an exuberant atmosphere. If you also want to swing a fishing rod, you have the opportunity to go fishing from 8 a.m. - for the first time in what feels like forever.
Another exciting aspect of the festival is the exhibition of historic tractors from the Bliestal veteran friends. The members show that their love for classic vehicles is not just a hobby, but also a shared experience that can be revived after the long break caused by the pandemic.
The tractor friends recently organized a trip with 17 tractors, using the Niedergailbacher Lehmkaulhütte as the starting point. On their trip to the Celtic House in Altheim, the group was able to create beautiful memories together, despite the restrictions of the past few years. The chairman of the veterans, Michael Gros, was visibly pleased with the community experience. The big celebration of the group's 15th anniversary fell victim to the corona pandemic last year, which makes people all the more happy about events like this celebration.
Various events in the area
If you want to do even more, there will be a wealth of events in Saarbrücken on June 15th. The Events calendar shows that the penguins in the zoo will be fed from 9 a.m., and art lovers can look forward to an exhibition of over 100 hand-made sculptures in Werner Bärmann's garden. Further highlights include the Maker Festival at E Werk as well as various guided tours and concerts in the Saar area, which round off the day perfectly.
