HanseWerk School Music Prize 2025: Pinneberg's school inspires with music!

There is a reason to be happy in Pinneberg: the primary and community school in the Quellental has been awarded the HanseWerk School Music Prize 2025. The ceremonial presentation of the prize, worth 3,000 euros, took place as part of a rousing music event at which the students presented an exciting range from hip-hop to movement songs. Primary school coordinator Kristina Kühn accepted the symbolic check and was happy about the recognition of the musical activities at her school. SHMF reports that among the well-wishers was Dr. Christoph Jansen from HanseWerk AG and Dr. Philipp Salamon-Menger from the Ministry of General and Vocational Education.

Particular attention was also paid to the numerous musical offerings that primary school students can take advantage of. These include the ukulele, keyboard and boomwhacker, while the children are allowed to compose their own songs, among other things. The afternoon offerings include choir rehearsals and guitar lessons, offering a broad musical spectrum. Highlights such as the “Stage Free” format, which takes place four times a year, also give students the opportunity to show their talents and gain stage experience.

Focus on making music together

“Making music together is the heart of our music education and promotes the students’ social skills,” emphasizes Dr. Christoph Jansen. Education Minister Dr. Dorit Stenke, who took over the patronage of the prize, shares this view and emphasizes the importance of recognizing the positive impact of music on the personal development of young people. Another patron, Dr. Philipp Salamon-Menger, emphasizes the importance of so-called practical offerings in order to sustainably promote students' musical interest.

The César Klein School in Ratekau was also awarded the HanseWerk School Music Prize, which illustrates the appreciation for creative music education in Schleswig-Holstein. This school offers a wide range of musical offerings from the fifth grade onwards, which focus on making music together and on stage experience. Thanks to regular concerts and performances, they also promote the musical education of the students. Further information on this can be found on the website Schleswig-Holstein State Music Council can be viewed.

Given the inclusive role of music in school, the awards are not only an award but also an encouragement to other schools to take up similar musical initiatives. This shows that the HanseWerk School Music Prize not only benefits the award-winning schools, but also the entire community.
