Drone operations in the Duchy of Lauenburg: tragic find and heroic deeds!

In the last few days, the drone operations of the Tactical Drone Unit (TE-D) of the Duchy of Lauenburg district have been frequently in the news. Loud LN online On Friday night, the emergency services' attention was focused on the search for a missing senior citizen in Gülzow, who was ultimately found lifeless. This tragic incident underlines the importance of search operations, which are often supported with drones and search dogs.

The last of the four missions within six nights was particularly intensive because the missing man urgently needed to be found due to his dementia and the large search areas. Unfortunately, death could only be determined after passers-by discovered him. The police and the Schwarzenbek Fire Department's drone group worked closely together to optimize the search.

Successful operations of the TE-D

There were also good things to report from other TE-D missions. On Thursday night, a missing resident of a Lübeck retirement home was found by chance inside the building; he had unintentionally locked himself in. The TE-D was also active on Wednesday morning when it helped to pursue a fleeing driver on the A24, who initially fled in an Audi and later on foot, but was briefly arrested soon afterwards.

Another exemplary commitment by the drone unit took place on Sunday in Geesthacht. Here, the drones supported the extinguishing work at the Bertha von Suttner School by identifying hot spots with thermal imaging cameras. The TE-D, which consists of firefighters and members of aid organizations, has carried out numerous missions since its founding in 2021, including assessing damage after hurricanes.

Thanks to modern technology and the experience of the emergency services, the TE-D becomes valuable support in crisis situations. It remains to be hoped that the missions can continue to deliver as many positive results as possible in the future.
