Creative holidays in Schwarzenbek: Children learn paracord crafts!
In Schwarzenbek there is a lot of celebration during the summer holidays! The city library has come up with something very special for the kids again this year. Although closed on Wednesdays, an exciting workshop took place in which a total of eleven girls and one boy were able to take part. This workshop was all about creatively making bracelets and keychains from the popular material paracord.
Tanja Petersen from the city youth group not only taught the young crafters the technique and use of paracord, but also showed how to tie the special knots that are necessary to make the colorful accessories. Typically used by sailors, skydivers and climbers, paracord is becoming increasingly popular as a craft material. The children initially had to measure their own arm length and choose a favorite color before they started crafting. At the end, they were proud to take their handmade pieces home with them.
Diverse workshops for creative minds
The paracord workshop is part of a colorful series of activities offered by the city youth group during the summer holidays. Other workshops on the program this year include pottery, painting mandala, drawing comics, learning to play the guitar, programming robots and a games afternoon. The last workshop will take place on September 3rd. If you still want to take part, you can inquire about remaining places at the city library.
In addition to the creative craft hour, the city library is offering a nationwide holiday reading club for children and young people until September 6th. To participate, kids choose a book, read it and fill out a profile while collecting stamps. Participation will be rewarded with great prizes such as telescopes, robots and book vouchers. On September 17th there will also be a magic show called “Simsalbuch” in the town hall, where the winners of the raffle will be announced. Each child also receives a certificate for their reading achievements.
The fascination of paracord
If you are interested in paracord, you should also consider the offer from Paracord Weavers placed close to heart. Not only does the company offer a wide range of paracord products, but they also offer a DIY kit called Tulip Weave, which is perfect for getting started. For $9.95 you get enough material for two bracelets, including a video guide. The designs are not only attractive, but also easy to implement.
Overall, the Schwarzenbek public library shows that it has a good knack for offering varied holiday offers that not only promote creativity, but also support the joy of reading. The offerings are diverse and the response from the children speaks for itself. If you still want to take part, you have until September 3rd! Visit the public library, open every day except Wednesdays and Sundays, to find out more about the workshops and reading competition.
