Schwarzenbek in construction site fever: Big projects start in 2025!

Signs point to change in Schwarzenbek. On June 26, 2025, citizens and city representatives presented the planned major projects that are to be tackled in the coming years at a residents' meeting. The focus was particularly on the construction of a new roundabout, a modern elementary school and the general renovation of the important Hamburg-Berlin railway line, as ln-online reports.

The new roundabout at the fire station will be started next September. This has been planned for four years and is intended to significantly improve the traffic situation on Lauenburger Straße. During this construction work, the tunnel on Grabauer Straße will be temporarily closed. A larger project is the new construction of the fire station, which costs an impressive 24 million euros and will begin in April 2027. The construction period is expected to last two years.

Education offensive in Schwarzenbek

Another highlight is the new building of the Friedrich Wilhelm Compe School. This project is currently being managed by the WGA architectural firm from Vienna. The total costs amount to around 45 million euros. Construction is scheduled to start in December 2025, while demolition of the old school is scheduled to begin in January 2026. The new building, which is exciting for everyone involved, will start in April 2026 and be completed by December 2027. The new school will offer space for around 650 students.

To ensure that students can travel to school safely and reliably, residents are affected by the general renovation of the Hamburg-Berlin railway line. This will be carried out from August 2025 to April 2026 and affects 278 kilometers of tracks and overhead lines, affecting 470 trains and 28 stations. During the renovation, an additional 170 buses will be used as replacement services, and the S-Bahn from Aumühle will not be able to run for two weeks. How exactly the replacement traffic will be organized will be announced on the Deutsche Bahn website.

Quick accessibility through alternative transport

In order to provide travelers with smooth transport despite the construction phase, 27 bus routes were set up to replace the trains. These lines are intended to ensure that passengers can easily get from their home to the remaining rail connections. In addition, there are express buses that have as few stops as possible, although the journey times will be longer than those of the trains.

Complete information about the new bus connections as well as further details about the redesign of the transport structure are provided on the website bvwp-projekte, which is also used to create the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan. These are comprehensive projects that are tailored to future transport needs. Not only are the individual projects evaluated here, but their role in the overall transport network is also analyzed.

In the midst of these developments, there are also celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the town twinning. Delegations from Aubenas, Cesenatico, Sierre and Zelzate are expected in the city from September 11th to 15th. Citizens are called upon to actively participate in these celebrations and host guests in their households.
