Jeddeloh's preparation: victories, defeats and Lindemann's criticism!
There was a lot going on at SSV Jeddeloh at the weekend, as the club played two test games in preparation for the summer. Despite a victorious game on Friday against Oberliga relegated VfL Oldenburg 4-0, the performance on Saturday in the game against Regionalliga rivals VfB Lübeck fell short of expectations. While Jeddeloh was able to shine in the first game, the team had to admit defeat the following day with a disappointing 1:4. The scorers for Jeddeloh were Kasra Ghawilu, Tom Gaida, Moritz Brinkmann and Ebrima Jobe against Oldenburg, but key player Tom Gaida was able to score the next goal against Lübeck after the opponents were already 4-0 up.
Coach Björn Lindemann drew a positive interim conclusion after two weeks of intensive preparation, even if he massively criticized the exploitation of opportunities and the performance in the first half against Lübeck. “There is still a lot to do,” he said. From Monday, the training intensity will be increased in order to further promote competition within the team. Lindemann, who also works as an insurance salesman, aims to focus more on the sporting area in the future.
From triumph to tragedy: The season in review
Last season was anything but easy for SSV Jeddeloh II. Although the team was able to secure relegation in the regional league with a 0-0 draw against SV Todesfelde on matchday 34, the entire season was characterized by fluctuations. Lindemann expressed dissatisfaction with the performances and saw many individual mistakes that played a disruptive role. “The last few weeks have been nerve-wracking and exhausting,” said the trainer.
A fire on the Haskamp Arena grounds in particular put a strain on training conditions. These were described as inadequate and corresponded more to the state league level. The team urgently needs new, experienced players to stay competitive. Lindemann has apparently already had discussions with possible newcomers such as Willi Evseev from Meppen.
Planning for the future and trainer development
However, there are also positive things to report. The DFB and DFL have launched a new project for individualized coach development, which could also provide positive impulses in Jeddeloh. As part of this program, talented young coaches will be supported with tailored coaching. This offer could help to sustainably increase the quality of coaching in the club and thus also promote the development of the players. The focus is on an optimal learning environment.
The time has come for SSV Jeddeloh to rethink and adapt its structure. Lindemann emphasizes the need for changes in the club, not least due to the departure of experienced players such as Bastian Schaffer and Felix Bohe. “We have to focus more on quality and formulate ambitious goals,” summarizes Lindemann, as he takes the reins into his own hands to get the club back on track.
The challenges are great, but with the right attitude and the necessary reinforcements, Jeddeloh could get off to a flying start again next season. Either way, the coming weeks will be crucial.
