Lübeck is expecting a cultural mega weekend with 75,000 visitors!

Things are going to get really hot in Lübeck next weekend! As NDR reports, the organizers are expecting around 75,000 guests to flock to the Hanseatic city. The super art festival in particular, which starts on June 13th, promises a great spectacle. With a focus on music, film and circus, this event will transform the city center into a large art area, including atmospheric sounds and creative performances.

With over 80 shows by national and international artists, the festival will be a highlight for many art lovers. Among the expected visitors are tens of thousands who can look forward to a weekend full of creative diversity. In addition, another major event awaits everyone with the Fehmarn Belt Days, which will take place from June 14th to 16th - up to 50,000 guests are expected here, who can look forward to music, discussions and culinary delicacies.

Sporting highlights and diverse culture

The weekend also features sporting events, including the Cougars' football game against the Hamburg Pioneers on June 14, where attendance is expected to range between 3,000 and 10,000. If you're looking for even more sporting action, don't miss the 7 Towers Triathlon on June 15th, where more than 1,000 athletes are expected.

The police have announced that they will increase their presence in Lübeck and advise drivers to allow more time for the journey. The streets around the banks of the Trave, where numerous events take place, will be particularly busy. Some streets will be closed during the events, including Falkenstrasse and Travemünder Allee in the direction of the Herrentunnel. Traveling by train or bus would be recommended, as the Elbe Tunnel is closed until Monday morning due to construction work.

Cultural diversity all year round

However, Lübeck also has a lot to offer apart from the big events. A variety of cultural events take place throughout the year, such as the Nordic Film Days, the Lübeck Organ Summer and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, which attracts international artists. Another highlight is the HanseKulturFestival, which takes place every two years and always brings life to the old town island. The cultural magazine “Lübeck ZWISCHENZEILEN” and the podcast “Lübeck ZWISCHENTÖNE” offer another platform to get to know the life and culture of the city better, as Lübeck Tourismus reports.

Numerous concerts are also planned for the next few days, such as the “Viertel nach Zwölf” concert in St. Katharinen, which presents works by Bach, Scarlatti and Vivaldi. On June 14th, the female singers of the pop choir SheSwing! to be on stage together with the heartChor from Sandesneben. The Christmas markets in December also attract many visitors with their maritime and historical market halls and round off the city's cultural offerings, as Ostsee notes.

Whether art, music or sport – Lübeck has something to offer for everyone. The coming days promise a firework of experiences and are an excellent opportunity to discover the diversity of this wonderful city.
