Protest in Lübeck: Families fight for the future of their children!

On Monday, November 3, 2025, around 350 people gathered in Lübeck city center for a powerful demonstration. The participants, including families with children and child and youth work professionals, protested against planned budget cuts that could have serious consequences for the municipal infrastructure. The starting point of the protest rally was the Schrangen, from where the crowd marched through the city center to the Mühlentor administrative center. With banners, drums and loud chants, they drew attention to the urgently needed support for children, young people and families in Lübeck.

The speeches during the event were characterized by emotional appeals. Luce Ostermann, from the youth network lambda::nord e. V., made it clear: “Child and youth work is not a luxury – it is basic democratic provision!” Tanja Habeck from the KEB primary school and support centers added: “Anyone who saves on children and social institutions saves on the future, on justice and on humanity.” The event was very well received and demonstrated the commitment of the Lübeck community, which is committed to the well-being of its youngest members.

Outlook for further actions

In order to maintain the pressure on politicians, the organizers have announced another rally on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. in front of the town hall. The motto is “10% more instead of less”. In addition, the action alliance “Lübeck is fighting for its future” is planning another demonstration in mid-November to make the voices of citizens even louder.

Christiane Virgiels, co-founder of the action alliance, made an urgent appeal for active participation: “It is up to us to take the future of our children and young people into our own hands.” These demonstrations are a clear expression of resistance to cuts that cannot be tolerated given the current societal challenges.

A happy occasion from the world of stars

The couple tied the knot in a formal ceremony in 2023. Meanwhile, VARUN TEJ is busy shooting a new film, an Indo-Korean horror comedy titled VT15. Lavanya recently made her mark in the action drama Thanal, which released in September 2025 and is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

In Lübeck and beyond, the message remains clear: whether protesting about social issues or celebrating personal milestones - people show commitment and heart.
