Regional conference in Grevesmühlen: Together against right-wing extremism!
The sixteenth regional conference on right-wing extremism and strengthening democracy will take place in Grevesmühlen on November 15, 2025. This event, which was initiated by the *Partnership for Democracy* in the Northwest Mecklenburg district, is aimed at democratically committed people from civil society, local voluntary work and full-time institutions. The aim is to address current challenges in the area of right-wing extremism and at the same time to promote democratic culture locally. Duchy reported directly that the conference program will also address dealing with racism in rural areas in the form of workshops.
The conference is supported by actors who are committed to combating right-wing extremism, racism, anti-Semitism and group-related misanthropy. The aim is not only to impart knowledge about these topics, but also to network actors who want to create a strong civil society presence. This is particularly important given the rise in racism and misanthropic attitudes in Germany. The current situation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein, which are considered particularly affected, shows that there is an urgent need for action Regional conference underlined.
Workshop formats and topics
The workshop format focuses on strategies for overcoming prejudices and strengthening democratic attitudes. Technical contributions on legal options for action and reports on experiences are intended to create a broad exchange about the challenges and solutions in this area. Participants can look forward to practical action strategies that will help them implement effective measures against right-wing extremism.
The conference, which was launched in Ratzeburg in 2012, has already achieved considerable success: a total of fifteen regional conferences have taken place by 2024, at which over 1,750 people have been trained as multipliers. The organizers expressly reserve the right to deny or exclude people with right-wing extremist connections from entry.
The organizing team
A supra-regional organizational team, which includes various local institutions and associations, is responsible for organizing the conference. The city of Ratzeburg, the Ratzeburg Alliance and regional advisory teams work closely together to ensure that the event covers all relevant topics and meets the needs of the participants. Duchy directly emphasizes that the support from partners such as the *Verein Miteinander leben e.V.* and the *RAA regional centers* forms an important basis for sustainable work against right-wing extremism in the region.
The regional conference promises to become an important place for exchange and knowledge transfer and to decisively counter the ongoing problem of right-wing extremism. Those interested can register on the website www.regional conference.eu and obtain further information.
