25 years of moonlight cinema: film evenings under the starry sky in Tönning!

A very special festival will be celebrated in Tönning next month: the moonlight cinema is celebrating its 25th anniversary. What began on a small scale a quarter of a century ago has now developed into a cultural highlight in the region. The open-air cinema in the historic packing house right on the harbor is a popular meeting place for film enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

The celebration begins in the first week of August, when the film screen lights up every day from 8 p.m. from August 7th to 9th. The performances begin in a cozy atmosphere around 9:30 p.m. The Mondscheinkino team has put together a varied program that promises absolute viewing pleasure:

• Donnerstag, 7. August: „Es sind die einfachen Dinge”
• Freitag, 8. August: „Der Buchspazierer”
• Samstag, 9. August: „Mamma Mia”

Tickets will be available approximately two weeks before the first screening. The advance booking offices in Tönning are the tourist information center and the Boye Hamkens company. Also online via Eventim Light Cinephiles can secure their tickets. If you're watching spontaneously, you can also stop by the box office. Please note that you are not allowed to bring your own food or drinks into the cinema - however, there will be film-related treats on site, the proceeds of which will be donated to charitable organizations.

Supporting program and special activities

Another highlight is the free picture book cinema for primary school children on Monday, August 4th, in the Tönning city library. On the following Tuesday, August 5th, there will also be a film screening of “Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran” in the St. Lawrence Church, where coffee and cake are expected. Voluntary monetary donations for the children's choir are welcome here. Jens Krüger, the chairman of the association, is extremely grateful for the support of the volunteers, supporting members and sponsors, without whom the event would not be possible.

Since its founding in 1999, the Mondscheinkino Tönning e.V. has become a fixture in the cultural scene. Every year a film festival is celebrated in the historic packing house at the harbor on the first three days of August - not only the films, but also the unique backdrop and the good atmosphere make the event an unforgettable experience.
