Deadly German Shepherd: Two dogs bitten to death in Neumünster!
In Neumünster, two tragic incidents with fatal biting attacks occurred within a few days, alarming dog owners in the city. A German Shepherd is suspected of attacking both a Chihuahua and a Dachshund for no apparent reason. The police have started an investigation and are checking whether it is the same dog that is responsible for the attacks in both cases.
On August 6th, an owner wanted to hold his Chihuahua when the terrible incident occurred. The German Shepherd attacked and seriously injured the two. The owner tried to separate the attackers, but injured himself in the process. Unfortunately, the Chihuahua had no choice but to be euthanized in a veterinary practice. Five days later, another serious incident occurred in which a dachshund was attacked by the same free-roaming German Shepherd. Despite his owner's efforts, the dachshund died due to serious injuries. The city of Neumünster has been informed about the incidents and can impose conditions on the German Shepherd owner to avoid future attacks.
Police are investigating
The police already have suspicions about the owner of the German Shepherd and are conducting further investigations. According to reports, this could not only be an isolated incident but also raises questions about the responsibility of dog owners. It is also worth noting that the city administration could play an important role in ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future.
In a separate incident, a 56-year-old mudflat hiker from Munich was injured when her own dog panicked and pushed her under the water. Luckily, a tourist managed to save the woman, who then had to be treated in hospital, while the dog was unharmed. This incident prompted the police to urgently warn about the dangers of mudflat hiking. Currents and rising water can quickly become a life-threatening situation, and not every dog can be well assessed in critical situations.
The two incidents once again show how important it is to keep animals responsibly and to take the dangers of dealing with them seriously. The city of Neumünster will take measures in the near future to minimize the risk for dog encounters and to ensure safety in public spaces. The following applies to dog owners: A good hand in selecting and training their animals can save lives and prevent accidents like this.
